More signal, less noise.
So, today I have spent a little time considering the content of my website and galleries, the outcome of which has been...... removing content. Keep this simple.
I've realised that it's not the quantity of work that you have on display, but the quality that is important, more signal - less noise. This lightbulb moment is more than likely going to lead to a temporary 'take down' of the site and a trawl through my latest images to rebuild the site and keep it fresh and hopefully get a new focus on Project Raw.
Whilst in this cleaning up state of mind, here's an image from last year that i rediscovered that I think typifies more signal and less noise ethos. This was shot with one off camera light, small softbox, under exposed by one stop for the ambient light. At the time all of us involved didn't really notice this image much but its become a favourite of everyone, especially the subject. It's wrong in so many ways, under exposed shadows with loss of details, a busy background, but the overall image works, there's a look in the eyes that makes up for the rest of the image.
